Israeli merger and acquisition deals in Feb 2024

1.  Codefresh, A software company

On February 27, 2024, the Israeli software company Codefresh was acquired by the Australian company Octopus Deploy. The acquisition price has not been disclosed, but it is estimated to be between $40 million and $50 million.

Founded in Israel in 2014, Codefresh is one of the maintainers of Argo and holds a leadership position in the areas of continuous delivery (CD), GitOps, and continuous integration (CI) for Kubernetes. The Codefresh platform focuses on providing automated build, test, and deployment solutions for Kubernetes applications, making the software development and deployment process more efficient and reliable.

Octopus Deploy is an Australian provider of an automation platform for continuous deployment, specializing in the industry-standard platform for continuous delivery (CD).

This strategic acquisition positions Octopus Deploy as one of the largest private companies in the DevOps ecosystem, integrating CD, CI, and GitOps into a reliable platform to further drive innovation and efficiency in software delivery. Through this acquisition, Octopus Deploy aims to expand its influence in the US market and enhance its expertise in the field of continuous deployment tools.

Kubernetes: An open-source platform designed to automate deploying, scaling, and operating application containers. It groups containers that make up an application into logical units for easy management and discovery.

Continuous Delivery (CD): A software engineering approach in which teams produce software in short cycles, ensuring that the software can be reliably released at any time.

GitOps: A paradigm or a set of practices that empowers developers to perform tasks traditionally done by IT operations. GitOps uses Git as a single source of truth for declarative infrastructure and applications.

Continuous Integration (CI): A development practice where developers integrate code into a shared repository frequently, preferably several times a day. Each integration can then be verified by an automated build and automated tests.

DevOps: A set of practices that combines software development (Dev) and IT operations (Ops) to shorten the system development life cycle and provide continuous delivery with high software quality.
